“Oddarrang is one of the most refreshing bands to emerge on the European jazz scene in recent years.” Rob Adams / The Herald

Oddarang, the experimental jazz ensemble founded by jazz drummer Olavi Louhivuori returns after a two-year gap with their second album "Cathedral." This new, long waited for, album reveals a new Oddarang, one that will take you on a musical journey through deep sounds and minimalist songs.

Combining different music genres into a brave blend, Oddarang represents a new interesting European music generation. The groups music has been compared to, amongst other things, Cinematic Orchesta and Iceland artists such as Björks or Sigur Rósins music. In the movie soundtrack like music world that is Oddarang the artists manage to combine vision and experience to create a blend of jazz, classical, world and postmodern rock.

The bands debute album 'Music Illustrated' was released in 2007, after which the group has performed vigorously around Europe including the Paris Jazz festival and the Glasgow Jazz Festival. In 2008 Oddarang did a tour in Japan, which was a phenomenal success and consequently, the group did a repeat in 2011 along with the release of their new album.

The band consists of well-travelled trumpeter Tomasz Stańkon and drummer OIavi Louhivuori. Together they have collected the best of the Finnish music scene including Osmo Ikonen, famous from Sunrise Avenue, Jipun and Samuli Edelmann, famous from the pop industry, guitarist Lesse Sakara and bass player Lasse Lindgren along with trombonist Ilmari Pohjola.
