Neveready, real name Petteri Arpiainen, born in 1984, is a Finnish producer, dj, promoter and a vocalist who has been involved with music for over fifteen years.
Originally from Vaasa, a small city in the west coast of Finland, Neveready first got into making beats in the early 1990 's when his older brother got a copy of Fast Tracker II. Not being allowed to use the family computer because of his young age he started learning the software when his brother was away, making beats in secrecy. He grew up listening to early jungle, trip hop and other electronic music. From early age he had a keen ear for variety of good music, listening to family records that varied from finnish Tango to The Doors & Metallica. Late 90s he was to form his first rap group.
After a few small independent releases with the group just before millenium, he later met Dumb, a musician from a band whose subtenants Neveready and his group were. From that introduction, he (back then known as Humanlike) and Dumb started making music together as a group called Foureyes and independently released their first tape 'Kohdatut kasvot' in 2003 and later on that year his first solo tape, simply titled 'Kasetti' and was released by Anti-Party Music. Kasetti was followed by 'Kasetti 2': a double tape released in 2004, now under the alias Neveready. Summers 2004 & 2005 were spended with more laidback projects called “Rillipäät” (Finnish for Four Eyes), more like a humour rapgroup with few 4-track tapes full of laidback summervibe songs. Behind own projects, many beats were shared for other artists to use and production credits can be found on many underground releases.
With a deep intrest on playing records but no turntables to practice with, Neveready started djaying on partys just to get his hands on the equipment. Neveready had been organizing and promoting small events on his own for some time already, and in 2003 he came up with Homemade; a club that promoted and also contributed in the small Finnish underground hip hop community. With support from dj Akim (formerly known as Groovert) they ran their events for few years in various venues and locations in Vaasa.
In the year 2005 Neveready got more back into making instrumental hip hop, trip hop and downtempo beats, which had all been very close to his music even before: an ep, titled 'Neveready' was released by Fjuu Records as a 10 inch vinyl and later independently as a mini cd. Same year he released a split double mini cd with Pion, an artist from Vaasa. The release was again, released independently and with no record label support. In the end of 2005 Fjuu Records released a split 12 inch, one side featuring three vocal tracks from Neveready and two instrumental tracks from Dumb, the other side featuring three tracks from rapper and singer songwriter Effekt. In 2007 Neveready was contacted by Chydenius from Mestarisoundi radioprogram on YleX to be part of a Finnish hip hop compilation album “Mestarisoundi Soundcheck” that was releases later that same year as a 2CD/2LP by Monsp Records.
After intensive years spent with mostly hip hop, in late 2006 Neveready moved to the capital city of Finland, Helsinki, 500 kilometers away to the south. Neveready still had good relations to his hometown and when he and Akim started to set up a monthly club presenting jungle and drum and bass, they asked Dumb, who had earlier discovered the new bass oriented dubstep and grime music, to join them. They launched Bassbash, first as a monthly club and afterwords as often as they could until the end of 2009. At the same time when organizing Bassbash, Neveready grouped up with dj 's in Helsinki to form 'Got Sub?', which was a club concentrated mainly on dubstep and promoting both Finnish and international artists. Neveready had also started producing music around 140 bpm tempo and his track 'Goro' was released on a compilation by the Swedish dubstep label Redvolume Records in 2008. Many of his tracks caught attention by dj's and his tracks have been played on various radio shows on Rinse.fm, Sub.fm, Dubstep.fm and the Finnish Bassoradio.
Around 2009 the Helsinki Rooftop Ninjas was born when Neveready was asked to join a band of Zenikh (former name Alaska Kalanen) and Dj Hereill. In early 2010 HRTN toured around the Baltic region on a DIY tour with Mc Paleface. HRTN has played a good amount of gigs around Finland and many shows were collaborations with friends, such as the kick start party for the 2010 Funky Elephant Festival in Helsinki that featured Father Metro from Don Johnsson Big Band, Brandon Maher and Jaska Prepula.
After many stages in life and music, Neveready has returned to the music that maybe influenced him the most, trip hop and downtempo, mixing and blending it in with all other music he loves. Currently finnishing his first LP in a collaboration with legendary finnish bassplayer Jukka Kiviniemi for Next Generation Records Brooklyn, USA. He has come to the point where it's hard to even categorize the music he produces. His music is an ongoing process, constantly evolving and mutating. Hence the name, Neveready.
