Countdown to International Short Film Day
The INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM DAY is held on 21st of December in 16 different countries. Finland is taking part in it for the second time! Join us for this countdown afternoon event at mbar on Saturday 20th December! We’ll show you a set of works from Euphoria Borealis- workshops and the nominees for Kettu Short Film Award.
FUTURE SHORTS
London originated FUTURE SHORTS is the world’s biggest POP UP –film festival and short film network that has spread to over 90 countries. Since 2008 FUTURE SHORTS FINLAND has brought the best international short films to different parts of Finland and has become the biggest national short film club in the country. In addition to that Future Shorts Finland collaborates with various events, organizations and film- and music festivals.
EUPHORIA BOREALIS
Euphoria Borealis is a Finnish cultural association working in the fields of visual and audiovisual culture. EB is a mixed group of young people (aged 18-35) interested in arts and culture in general, both professionals and students. The aim of the association is to encourage, develop and diversify the knowledge and making of audiovisual art. The Euphoria Borealis- short films shown at mbar will be revealed later.
KETTU SHORT FILM AWARD
8 Finnish short films are competing of the Kettu Short Film Award in 2014. The aim of the award is to raise awareness of Finnish short films and support the short film makers as well as to reach new audience. The money award is provided by national broadcasting company YLE. The films were shown in November at Helsinki Short Film Festival. This year’s winner, which is chosen by Selma Vilhunen and Ville Haapasalo, will be revealed at the next Jussi-gala in February 2015.
